3-18-2014 7-11-29 PMWe all go through times when we struggle financially. We went through a period of struggling financially that seemed it would never end. We were newlyweds with no sense of paying our own bills. We then were new parents that had no clue how much it took to care for a baby. There were days I thought how in the world would we pay this bill or be able to afford the broken air conditioning in our truck or pay something else that had come up. I really did not know what we would do besides keep trusting in God and trudging along.

I can say there never was a time that God did not supply what we needed. Sometimes it was in small ways and sometimes it was in big ways. I used to think the big ways were more important because then I could boast of His love and greatness. But then I realized the small things mean so much more. They show how intimately God knows our needs. They show how perfect He is. Nonetheless, God always came through. I really did not grasp why we had to struggle and I really did not like it. All I knew is that we needed God’s intervention and He never once failed us. One thing I learned is: not to put my trust in money or man, but to put my trust in God. He can give me what He pleases at any time, no matter what.

But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.” (Luke 12:7)

When we put our hope and trust in God, He will take care of us. We often hear the verse about the sparrows and how we are of more value than they are. I don’t think we fully understand it though. The God who made the heavens and the earth hears our prayers and cries. He knows what we need before we even ask Him! That is amazing! Is it not? The fact that He takes care of each of our needs when we need HIM,is just humbling. He gives you an unexpected check in the mail-we’ve had quite a few of these. He gives you an unexpected credit while grocery shopping. He gives you unexpected money in the pocket of your jeans- we’ve also had this happen a lot. God cares and God knows. He will meet our needs just in His time.

Our fear can often make us doubt God. I have done that more than once, that’s for sure. If we will look back in our lives to see where God was faithful, it can help build our faith. It’s often in the times of trial that our faith will grow. God may want to teach us patience and will use trials to do so. We can always take heart that God will meet our needs. He will come at just the right time!

HE is faithful…..HE is just…..HE is all knowing…..HE is our Savior!

If you are struggling today with needs that have not been met, wait on the Lord. Wait and be encouraged that God sees you and He hears you. He will not fail you!

I encourage you to write down the need-whatever it may be- and then write down when God meets it. Keep a journal of God’s faithfulness on paper or the computer. It will boost your faith for sure. It will be something you can share with your husband, children, family, or friends if you want also.

Let’s take a moment to pray for our marriages and remember how wonderful HIS unfailing love is for us.

Lord, help us to remember Your unfailing love for us. May we remember You know all of our needs and You will meet them in Your timing. Let us remember the things in the past You have done for us and know we can put our trust in You. Help us to remember how much we mean to You and know that we will never be forgotten. We love You Lord and praise Your name. Thank You for Your Word and provision.

In Jesus Name, Amen

Building strong marriages together,

Heather Strickland
