Who Am I

“Who am I supposed to be” is a question we have all asked ourselves at least once in our life time.

I ask when I’m frustrated..

When my prayers are not being answered..

When I feel I’m not good enough..

When too many mountains are in my sight.

Life can be hard, especially when we let our doubts have the last word.

But wait……

You are not who you think you are..

Or who you see in the mirror each morning..

What are the words you hear?

Stupid
Not enough
Idiot
Ugly
Trash

Maybe the words are sentences..

We were watching Little People Big World last night on TLC. Amy and Matt Roloff were being interviewed concerning their divorce. Amy was asked, “Do you think you will marry again?.” Her response, “I don’t think so. No one would be interested in me.”

Though I don’t advocate divorce, these words broke my heart for her. Seriously! I hurt for her as I watched her face and her countenance fall on national television.  If I could speak to her, I would say, Amy, you are worth so much more than you know.

Can you relate to Amy? Are there words that exalt themselves against who God’s word says you are?

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”  – 2 Corinthians 10:5

It’s time to change the filter in your mind.

When God looks at you, He sees the woman you are becoming in the midst of your trials and pain, not who you think you are. Praise the LORD!

Be encouraged sweet daughter of the King. You are so much more than you realize.

Yes. We are imperfect. However, God has the last word concerning this:

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.    – Psalm 139:14

We are fearfully and wonderfully made. David said, “marvelous are Your works” {this is you and me}.

Below is a powerful song written by my dear friend Naomi Holder.  She understands the pain of wishing she was someone other than herself and will speak right to you, if you will listen. I pray this gets to the depths of your heart.

Run to Who you are…
