“The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save.  He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”

This is one of my favorite verses in the Old Testament, probably because so many things are shoehorned into just a few words.

God is with you!

God is mighty to save!

God takes great delight in you!

God’s love will bring quiet (peace) to you.

God rejoices over you with singing.  (How often do you break into joyful song about someone in your life?)

As I meditate on these blessings, first promised to a humble, meek remnant of Israel, I am amazed at God’s faithfulness to His people.

God’s desire to honor His covenant is reassuring and inspiring!

I am so glad that God’s love for us transcends our ability to “deserve” it.  He loves us even when we sin when we know we shouldn’t!

We are called to have that kind of love for our spouse!

Now, that may seem like a tall order for you right now {and I’d be less than honest if I said that I never have a hard time loving Robert with this covenantal, God-kind of love}.

But you can be with your hubby…by hanging out with him and being available to him when he needs you.

Obviously, you can’t save your spouse.  But…you can pray for him to be saved from the circumstances and situations of his life.  You may not be mighty, but you know the Mighty One!

Say these things about your husband {insert his name in these statements}:

I delight in {………….}!

I rejoice over {………} with singing!

With delight and rejoicing,

Rebecca
