I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Philippians 1:3
I would have never guessed the man I’m married would be the man God had for me. We were so different and seemed to be on different paths in life. As always, God had other plans for the two of us that we didn’t really know. After almost seven years of marriage to this man of mine, I can truly say that I’m so thankful for him. I’m so thankful to God that He chose this man to be my husband for life.
It’s easy to let the new feelings of marriage wear off and for us to forget to thank God for our husbands. The years can wear on us and bring about lots of change. Babies, bills, moving, or job changes can cause us to drift apart and forget what a blessing our man is to us. I know at times that it’s happened to me. I think we should be more intentional in being thankful for our husbands. If we’re thankful for what we have, we won’t go searching for something else.
My husband does so much for me and our boys. I could never really thank him enough for all the sacrifices he has made since we’ve been married. He gives and gives of himself without us even having to ask. I’m sure your husband does the same thing for you and your family. If he doesn’t, I’m sure you can still find something about him to be thankful for. We’re all on different roads and face different circumstances, but one thing we can have in common is thankfulness.
I encourage you to sit quietly before the Lord and ask Him what it is about your husband to thank Him for. If you can’t think of anything, He’ll show you. We sometimes let the bad override the good in our marriages. If you ask God for clarity to see what you do have to be thankful for, I’m sure He’ll speak to you. Go ahead give a prayer of thanksgiving for that man of yours.
Lord, thank You for our husbands. They are so much more than we deserve. Bless them and draw them closer to You. Thank You for the unity of marriage. It’s such a tarnished commitment now days. Help us to be thankful for the marriage we have even if it’s not perfect. Help us to draw strength from You to love our men as You desire.
In Jesus’ name, Amen
