One Step You Can Take Today to Have a More Excellent Marriage

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”  Exodus 14:14 (NIV) Today, if you could do just one thing that would give you a more excellent marriage would you do it? Just one thing doesn’t sound too hard, does it? How many times have you said something that started a fight with your husband? If you’re like me, probably more times than you can count or would care to admit to! Instead, do what Exodus 14:14 directs: be still.   Don’t say that thing you know will start a fight with that man. Devoted

9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.   ~Romans 12:9-12 (NIV) In the NIV, this section of Romans 12 is entitled “Love in Action.” Devoted. I still use it regularly in prayer for myself, my family, and others. The thought that God provides armor and protection through His promises (and that they are faithful!) comforts me…

It Hasn't Always Been This Way

The other morning, as I stood on the steps, I watched Robert back out of the garage to leave for work. He put the car into drive, turned to me, blew me a kiss and held up his hand formed in the “I love you” sign.  I returned the kiss and the sign and waved good-bye as he drove away. As I breathed my prayer of thanks to God for this man He has given me, I pondered…it hasn’t always been this way. We started out head-over-heels in love with each other. Then reality set in. Jobs, kids, the regular…
