“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14 (NIV)
Today, if you could do just one thing that would give you a more excellent marriage would you do it?
Just one thing doesn’t sound too hard, does it?
How many times have you said something that started a fight with your husband?
If you’re like me, probably more times than you can count or would care to admit to!
Instead, do what Exodus 14:14 directs: be still.
Don’t say that thing you know will start a fight with that man.
Psalm 46:10-11 (NIV) says it this way:
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
The Lord will fight for you. He is with you. He is your fortress.
Your part is to be still.
God will be Who He is.
God will do what He has promised.
He can’t help it. He is supremely faithful. To you. To your husband. To His Word. God honors His covenant with us even when we fall short.
So today, do one thing that He commands.
Be still.

And the Lord He is good and faithful and does so much better than we could ever do. We muck it up when we try to fix it or solve it. Being still may not feel easy, but it sure gives you a lot less burden than if you try to do it alone and pick it up yourself.
