I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine. (Song of Solomon 6:3)
I wait for the phone to ring, to hear his voice, and to know he’s okay. I wait to hear the door unlock and to hear a sigh of relief. Those are the things that I wait for each night. My husband is a State Trooper (they’re called State Police in some states). Anyone can be gone in a blink of an eye, but it seems those in Law Enforcement or the Military can go sooner.
Some nights if I don’t hear from him when his shifts ends it worries me. I have a lot that may go through my mind. I think about the day’s events and how things were between us. I can’t help but wonder if I’ll see him again.
We take our husbands fore-granted so much………….
I know I do daily. Thinking about the officers that have been killed the last couple of days makes me realize it could have been mine. Ladies, we have to live in the moment. We have to cherish our men. They are so precious and we should be honored to be their wife. I know they can drive us nutty and annoy us at times, but don’t we do the same to them? That’s something to ponder. We’re both human and we’re going to make mistakes, but forgiving and learning is what we have to do. Life is too short and precious to not love our husbands deeply.
If you have your husband with you and alive today, consider yourself fortunate because there are some they don’t have that gift: the gift of their husband’s presence.
It’s an amazing gift that we should thank God for every day. Whether your marriage is going strong or on the rocks, he’s still there and you still have a chance to make things right. So go find your man and give him a hug or a long kiss. Hold his hand and tell him you love him. If you’re not on good terms, make things right. You never know when it will be your last good-bye. Be thankful for his presence in your life as long as God allows it.
Lord, thank You for our husbands. Thank You that they are with us right now in this moment. Help us to remember how fortunate and blessed we are to have them with us right now. Many women suffer from the loss of their husband. Comfort those who live without their spouse and give them Your peace. May we cherish our husband and our marriages.
In Jesus’ name, Amen
Building strong marriages together,
