Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.  As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For in Scripture it says:

“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
    a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.”

Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,

“The stone the builders rejected
has become the capstone,”  1 Peter 2:1-7

Sometimes things get rough.

For whatever reason (the reasons are many and varied), we have a season in our marriages where we feel down and even, if only momentarily, rejected.

God has a word for us though, ladies.

The first seven verses of 1 Peter remind us to feed on the word of Jesus.

Remember that moment you came to salvation in Christ and you craved all things from the Lord?

Peter encourages us to savor the memory and reality that the Lord is good.  (v. 2-3)

The tasty milk and food of the word will speak to your situation in your marriage.

We have to feed on food that is good for us.  You know how you feel when you eat too much junk food? {Run-down, tired, and bloated!}  It is the same in our spiritual life.

What are you feeding your spirit and soul?  Are you nourishing yourself in the truth of God’s Word?

If you are doubting the power of God to work in your marriage, then feast on His Word.

Come to know Jesus and God the Father in the right way.  Come to understand who He is through His Word and not through the lies of this world or the prince of this world.

Verse 4 encourages that, “as we come to him,” we know He is “the living Stone – rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to Him.”

Precious Jesus.

Jesus who dwells in the hearts of all believers.

Precious.

Look at verse 5 again,

you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

We are like Christ in that we are living stones.  We are being built into a spiritual house.  It is a building project being undertaken by the Precious Jesus who is the cornerstone of our building.  He is making a magnificent architectural marvel of us to present before the Father.

The reflection of our lives before the world [and our husbands] shows them a picture of God.  Allow the Lord to build in your life the reflection of Himself.

Look to Jesus.  Feed on the truth of His word and know that the solid foundation who is Christ  is strong enough to hold you in the thrilling, mundane and difficult times.

“Now to you who believe, this stone is precious.”
