3-31-2014 7-51-09 AMA promise spoken will keep our hearts expecting, yearning, and steady.  Nevertheless, the waiting period can’t be escaped if we desire for it to be fulfilled.  Right now, if I am really honest, my struggle has been to keep the faith.  My faith isn’t strong, but it’s still present.  It’s as bright as a smoldering wick, but it’s still able to be ignited.

Maybe it’s the grief talking since I lost my dad a month ago today.  It’s causing me to reflect on what’s important, what I truly want with my life, and weary with waiting on God to fulfill His promise. Struggles have been enormous the last few years, I am ready for restoration!

“God still restores lives, but He uses the broken pieces to mend it.”

Whatever has caused the brokenness in our lives: loss of job, losing our home, losing a loved one, or lost dreams, it’s not beyond restoration.  God’s plan hasn’t stopped for our lives; He is still creating His masterpiece for our lives!  Maybe it’s not the picture we want but we are not painting the canvas.  Upon salvation we yielded to make Jesus not only to be our Savior, but our Lord.  In other words, He is master of it all.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,

which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10)

As I drove home, I prayed to the Lord about my feelings of being stuck in my life.  Although I work part-time it’s not what I long to do, but it has to be done for our family.  At this juncture of my life I expected to own a home, be out of debt, and in full-time ministry with my family.  Although the facts of my life are the opposite, it’s not the truth-God has the final say.  As I poured out my heart to God, I was praying just for Him to hear me.  As the old hymn says, “Take it to the Lord in prayer.”  So, I did!  Sometimes, I am so amazed how quickly God answers us when we need reassurance.  Whether it’s hearing His sweet voice, a reminder of His promise, or when He does something to get your attention to remind you – you are precious to Him.

Before my children went to bed my son played a rap song on YouTube it was entitled “Hold On”. Maybe it’s silly to you, but as I listen to the words about a mother’s love, life’s broken expectations, and a simple truth- the Lord is still with you.  It truly brought comfort to my spirit, He is still there.  Although the night seems long, the morning will still come due to God’s faithfulness.  Nothing can change God’s faithfulness, even if I fail or I am weak!  He will be faithful, remain faithful, and always be faithful to those who are His children.  His love endures forever!  His mercies never fail!  His faithless reaches the Heavens!  No matter what the circumstances of our life or the facts show –God has the final say.  So if all you have to hold onto is a promise of God, it’s enough!  With God it’s as good as done because He spoke it.

Let’s take a moment to pray for the strength to keep holding on!

Lord we need you today because we need your strength to keep holding on! Reading your WORD brings comfort and we ask you to come and help us through our struggles. We take each burden, one by one, and lay them at your feet. Please carry them for us so that we don’t have to take this on our own. Replace them with your humble and gentle yoke so that we will find rest for our soul today.  We receive your gift of peace of mind and heart!

In Jesus Name; Amen
