I look around and consider all that the world has to offer.

We have that which appears to be mass chaos and unstable in all its dealings.

We have riots: are you the 99% or the 1%?; Our national debt is high and our unemployment rate low; We now have legalized same-gender marriages, legalized abortions and staggering divorce rates.

We live in a world where teen moms are considered celebrities and sex sells. Sister Wives has introduced us to the world of polygamy and the sanctity of marriage is at an all time low.

What the world has to offer us is temporal, a shifting of the sands and unstable at best.

No matter how the world is packing it, whatever they offer lacks one major thing: Peace.

And hard as it may try, they cannot recreate the peace that only the Lord can offer.

Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.] John 14:27

But God, according to 2 Corinthians 1:20, His words are yes and Amen.

There are no shifting sands, nothing temporal or unstable. He is our best.

It’s so easy though to lose focus, to shift our eyes to what we see around us.

But as we continue on in the Are You out of Focus? series, I encourage you to turn to the peacemaker when it’s peace you lack.

When we let Him fill the lack, we lack no more.

Focusing on Him,

Barb
