It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night. Psalms 92:1-2

Give thanks to the Lord.

It is good.

Thanksgiving should be upon our lips.

Today.  Tomorrow.  In the morning and in the night.

Do you ever find yourself complaining?

I do.

While I don’t think I’m a negative person or even a chronic whiner, I do sometimes catch myself grumbling to myself. When I do find myself in this state of heart, the cure is to repent (for this is sinful and not pleasing to the Lord) and turn my focus off of myself and onto the Lord; it is self-focus that is the cause of a grumbling spirit and an ungrateful heart.

Psalms 100:4 reminds me to “be thankful to Him and bless his name.”

Thanksgiving draws me out of my self-focused attitude and into the presence of the Lord.

Thanksgiving reminds me of the character of God.

He is good.
He is the Giver of all good things.
God is for me.
God is love.
The Loving Father continues to draw me, an imperfect wife, to Himself.
He desires to reveal more and more of Himself to me!  (Can you feel the excitement building?  I can!)
The God of the Universe cares for me!  For you!  For my marriage!  For your marriage!!!!!

Thanksgiving is good for the soul.  Indulge in it.

Stuff yourself full this day on the sweetness of a thankful heart.

Your husband will notice.

Your kids will notice.

Even your Thanksgiving Day guests will notice.

Passionately offer your thanks to the Lord and sing praises to Him.

“Give thanks, with a grateful heart;
Give thanks, to the Holy One;
Give thanks, because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son!”
