In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
My husband & I recently had the wonderful opportunity to get away overnight to attend a homeschool conference.
Thirty-six hours of adult-only conversation sure can recharge the marital batteries!
The conference, hosted by Titus2.com, was absolutely life changing.
There was so much truth, life & encouragement poured out over that weekend that our family will never be the same.
Not just because a family who has gone before us in this homeschooling journey, showed up to teach us something, but because God showed up to teach us something.
The heart of their message was revolutionary.
Would you like to know what it is?
As christians, we should always, always read our Bibles & pray.
There you have it folks, that was the heart of every workshop taught.
And laugh if you will, but I am changed!
How do you create a vision for your family? First you read your Bible & pray.
How do you homeschool with a meek & quiet spirit? Start by reading your Bible & praying. Daily.
Wives, how do you love your husbands? By spending time with God daily.
I don’t know about you but sometimes that’s the last thing I think of.
There was lots of great practical advice & sound godly wisdom doled out during this conference in this sweet little country church.
But my favorite part was hearing & seeing how it comes back to the word every time.
It is all about the word.
We can read articles on marriage & parenting. We can read devotionals, do every Beth Moore study available, attend 5 church services a week, but it doesn’t mean anything if we are not building a relationship with Christ ourselves.
He is the beginning, the life & the light.
As you work on your marriages & your lives, let Him be the foundation on which you build.
Ladies, let me encourage you, He needs to be our first choice, not our last resort.
Is He your first choice? He wants to be.
I challenge you this week, if you want to live a life worthy of the calling, if you want a marriage that is a reflection of Christ love for the church, then go back to the beginning: The word. Will you spend the next week daily making Bible reading & prayer your priority?
You will be different. Your life will be different.
Making Him my first choice,
Barb
