Have you joined us the past two Thursdays to fast for yourself and your husband?
Whether the answer is yes or no, I want to invite you to join us to fast for your marriage this coming Thursday!
How much do you value your marriage? Do you believe that God is completely invested and interested in the success of your marriage? Do you long to see your marriage line up with what God’s Word says it should be?
Marriage is God’s idea: lifelong marriage, not the disposable, if-this-doesn’t-work-out-we’ll-get-a-divorce type of marriage.
Passionate, warm, able-to-weather-life’s-storms type of marriage is what God wants for us. Marriage that reflects the relationship between Christ and the church.
That may seem light years from where you are now. Or maybe you see glimpses of that promised land from time to time.
Wherever your marriage is, whether you’ve been married one day or many decades, God’s desire is to make it better. His will is that everything you set your hand to would prosper.
As we fast on Thursday, seek the Lord for His will for your marriage and your role as wife. He will show you where you are doing well and where you need to change. He will give you His vision for your unique relationship…one that fulfills His big-picture plans and meets your husband’s and your personalities, giftings, strengths and weaknesses.
Fasting is a form of worship. As you worship our King with fasting, let Him lead you. Surrender your marriage to the One who created marriage and gave you that man of yours. As you surrender to the One who is infinitely faithful, He will give you the desires of your heart, as it says in Psalm 37:4
Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Fasting is an act of our will. No one accidentally fasts, right? I believe that through this time of “living intentionally” by fasting, you will enter into more freedom than you’ve ever experienced.
Don’t give up on your marriage or think that it’s just your lot in life to walk through a marriage that doesn’t line up with God’s will. He’s got a plan…just ask Him.
With prayers and hopeful expectation,
Rebecca
