Here at the Imperfect Wives we talk a lot about “change.” You will always hear one of us say, “the first to change is you!”
Why? Because each of us have lived or is living in Egypt. Not the physical Egypt. I’m talking about the spiritual Egypt.
I know you are tired of walking in Sin. My pastor says it this way: Sin takes you further than you want to go, keeps you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay!”
But God doesn’t want us to stay in our Egypt. He wants to deliver us just as He delivered the Israelites so many years ago.
“For I am the LORD who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.” Leviticus 11:45 {NKJV}
What is your Egypt, past or present?
Do you have the courage to submit it to God?
If no, what is hindering you from doing so?
Ask God to reveal the answer and for the courage to let Him have His will.
Satan is continually looking for ways to ensnare or tempt us to fail. He knows our weaknesses and vises and knows just how to lay his traps in a way that he is sure he will ensnare us once again. However, God has provided a way out for us. It’s not easy but will work when we take the necessary steps James outlines for us here:
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
1. Submit your sin to God asking forgiveness and trust Him. He wants to walk you through this.
2. Resist satan each time he tries to tempt you back into your sin. If you have submitted it to God, when you resist satan he will flee from you!
Now Peter tells us how to stay out of Egypt!
“Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.'” 1 Peter 1:13-16 {NIV}
