Dear Imperfect Wives,

As we have been praying for you and your marriages this week, the Lord has impressed upon our hearts that we need to fast as a group.

Many of us are facing situations that are beyond our ability to handle with our own strength and we are trusting God to show Himself strong in our circumstances.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 reminds us that joining together is advantageous as we can help each other up when we fall, we will be defended when we feel overpowered, and that there is strength in numbers!

If you have something that you have been praying about and would like us to pray and fast specifically for something with you, please share that with us. We will be sharing those requests with everyone who signs up to participate and asking that each person prays for the entire group’s needs.

Our fast begins tomorrow, Tuesday, May 3 and our last day to fast will be Monday, May 9 (for a total of 7 days of fasting).

Each of us can fast what we feel the Lord leading us to fast, whether it is one meal per day, media for a portion of the day, a particular food or group of foods…anything that He speaks to your heart.

We will pray a prayer of consecration on the radio program on Tuesday, May 3 and we will share praise reports the following week. (And for the weeks to come, no doubt!)

We will be posting updates, encouragement, and more during this week. We invite you to do the same…this ministry is to be woman-to-woman throughout the group. You are welcome to share a word of hope, encouragement, or a particular scripture as the Lord leads, whether it is for the entire group or a woman who God highlights to you during your prayer time.

We are filled with eager anticipation of what the Lord will do for us as we walk out what James 1:2-6 and 12 says,

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind…v 12 “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”

We want to encourage you to prayerfully consider joining us in this, even if you haven’t had much (or any!) experience with fasting. We are confident that as we approach the throne of grace, we will receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16)!

With love and prayers,

Cherie and Rebecca
