Wake Up!

On the journey to being revived, one of the first things, I believe, that that Lord calls us to is to “wake up.”

Isaiah 50:4 says,

The Sovereign LORD has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught.

We are to wake up with the purpose of listening.

Listening to learn (to be taught).

The implication at the beginning of this verse is that the Lord instructs us.

He instructs our tongue (what we say).  To know the word that sustains the weary (ourselves and others we minister to in His name).

In our marriages then, and in our other relationships, God wants to use us to sustain those who are weary.  Is your husband weary?  You can offer words that sustain him by God’s power as we wake up.  Our own personal revival will benefit those around us!

Intentionally, with purpose, we are to wake up with our ears ready to listen.  The beautiful part in this verse is that it is God who wakens our ears.  We don’t have to have degrees in theology or be a Bible Study leader or a pastor’s wife.

To be revived we have to simply come to the Word everyday and allow God to “awaken us.”   He, by His Spirit, does the teaching.  He loves us so much that He, the Creator of the Universe, wants us to know Him and His ways more fully.  He wants to sustain us.  He wants us to know the word that sustains the weary.

For it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said:   “Wake up, O sleeper,  rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Ephesians 5:14

Ready for revival?  It is time to wake up and meet the Lord morning by morning.

Wiping the sleep from my eyes,

 Kim

  1. Listening, such an often overlooked, underestimated piece of our prayer time and our lives in general.
Love how you have written so encouragingly on this!
